Is your website ready for Christmas? For a lot of businesses, the run-up to the festive season is the busiest time of year.
Whether you sell online, take bookings or just rely on enquiries, your website is working harder than usual. A few small checks now can stop a problem costing you sales when it matters most.
- Update your opening hours everywhere
Festive hours are the most common thing we see go out of date. Update them on your website, your contact page and your Google Business Profile, so customers aren’t turned away at a locked door. - Add delivery and last order dates
If you sell products, tell people clearly when they need to order by. Put it somewhere visible, like a banner or the checkout page, to cut down on “will it arrive in time?” emails. Our WooCommerce clients often add this as a simple site-wide notice. - Test your checkout and forms
Place a test order, send yourself an enquiry and check the confirmation emails arrive. Do it on a phone as well as a computer, because that’s where most festive browsing happens. - Check your site speed
Busy periods mean more visitors at once. A slow site loses people quickly, so check your pages load promptly on mobile and ask your host whether your plan can cope with a spike. Our website hosting is built with this in mind. - Update and back up before the rush
Run any outstanding plugin and theme updates now, rather than in the middle of your busiest week, and make sure you have a recent backup. A WordPress maintenance plan takes care of this in the background. - Refresh your homepage
Swap out any summer offers and make sure your main banner reflects what you want to sell now. If you haven’t looked at your site recently, our website health checks are a good place to start.
